International Energy Network learned that as of the end of 2023, Romania had registered a total of 42,000 electric vehicles, of which 16,800 were newly registered in 2023 (a year-on-year increase of 35% from 2022). In terms of charging infrastructure, as of January 2024, there are 4,967 public charging piles in Romania. Tesla’s Supercharger network has reached 62.
It is understood that Tesla will enter the Romanian market in 2021 and build the first super charging station there.
The availability of basic charging facilities is a key factor in the popularity of electric vehicles. Tesla is doing its best to provide Romanian owners with a reliable network of charging stations. In early January 2021, Tesla updated the list of cities where super charging stations will be built. According to plans, the first charging station will be built in Timisoara in the first quarter of 2021. In addition to Timisoara, Tesla plans to add three more Supercharging stations in Sibiu, Pitesti and Bucharest.
