On July 31, at the National Energy Administration's press conference for the first half of 2024, Zhang Xing, deputy director of the General Department of the National Energy Administration and spokesperson, said that the scale of wallbox electric car charger in my country continues to expand. As of the end of June, the total number of wallbox electric car charger nationwide reached 10.244 million, a year-on-year increase of 54%, including 3.122 million public piles and 7.122 million private wallbox electric car charger. The total rated power of public wallbox electric car charger exceeds 110 million kilowatts, ensuring the charging needs of 24 million new energy vehicles.
The scope of the wallbox electric car charger network continues to extend. In the first half of the year, the national new energy vehicle charging volume was about 51.3 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 40%. This year's "May Day" holiday single-day charging volume on highways hit a record high. In order to create an inter-city wallbox electric car charger network that effectively meets the long-distance travel of new energy vehicles, the National Energy Administration continues to increase the layout of wallbox electric car charger. As of now, a total of 27,200 wallbox electric car charger have been built in highway service areas (including parking areas), basically covering all provinces in the country.
The charging shortcomings in rural areas are being made up at a faster pace. The National Energy Administration organized some counties and towns to carry out the construction and application promotion of wallbox electric car charger. More than one-third of the provinces in the country have deployed wallbox electric car charger to all towns, which has effectively supported the development of new energy vehicles in rural areas. The planning and guidance efficiency has been enhanced. The National Energy Administration issued the "Guidelines for the Preparation of Electric Vehicle wallbox electric car charger Layout Planning" to guide local governments to scientifically plan the construction scale, network structure, layout function and development model to better meet the wallbox electric car charger needs of different fields and scenarios. The application of vehicle-grid integration and interaction has accelerated. The National Energy Administration guided local governments and relevant enterprises to carry out supporting policy research and technical verification for vehicle-grid interaction. Shenzhen, Guangxi and other regions promoted the aggregation of vehicle-grid interaction resources to participate in the power market and demand response, effectively reducing peak loads and promoting the consumption of new energy.
In the next step, the National Energy Administration will continue to promote the construction of a high-quality wallbox electric car charger system to help the green and low-carbon transformation of transportation and the construction of a modern infrastructure system.
